Symptoms of Yeast Infection

Yeast infection, also termed as vaginal thrush is commonly a vaginal infection which occurs due to overgrowth of naturally present yeast in the vagina. This abnormal growth takes place due to changes in the vaginal environment, causing the yeast to multiply. This overgrowth of yeast could also take place in other parts of the body including, tongue, underarms, under the breasts etc. Also men and children could also possibly be affected with yeast infection. It usually occurs in areas which are moist, sweaty or not properly cleansed.

There are a number of symptoms that indicate the existence of yeast infection. These symptoms are often ignored as many people do not like to accept the possibility of being affected with this infection. The symptoms vary according to the area infected, gender as well as the causes of the infection.

As far as women are concerned, one of the common symptoms is experiencing a white heavy discharge. This causes immense itching and burning around the vaginal tissues, which aggravates over time. Secondly the infected women might also experience pain during sexual intercourse. This is one of the main signs of yeast infection. Moreover, they might also feel burning and pain while urinating. More severe symptoms could include persisting abdominal pain, bloody discharge, fever and back pain.

Talking about babies and aged people, many different symptoms could be experienced depending on the areas infected. One of the signs is the appearance of white patches over a rash or red base on the infected tongue. These patches are painful and create hindrance in eating and drinking. Also this condition could cause the infected person to become dehydrated. In infants, a red colored rash may appear around the areas where diaper is worn. These rashes cause severe itching and pain.

In people whose immune systems have been affected by serious diseases like cancer, AIDS and diabetese, the symptoms of yeast infection could be severe which must not be overlooked. Such symptoms could include pain in the infected organ or the infected organ becoming dysfunctional. Also Candida, the unwanted bacteria, could cause ulcers in various organs like stomach or intestines.

Moreover, if these undesired bacteria enter the brain through the blood stream then it could cause considerable harm to significant functions of the brain. The signs or symptoms of this could be apparent changes in behaviors of the infected individual.

Thus ignoring these symptoms or taking them lightly could result in the development of a more harmful condition. It is imperative to see a doctor if you are experincing any of the above mentioned conditions. People who are already suffering from some serious disease as well as preganant women must be more circumspect and should consult a doctor even if they are experiencing the mildest of the symptoms. In both these conditions, experiencing symptoms of yeast infection or candidiasis could have serious consequences. Also adopting natural home remedies in daily life is highly important in order to avoid being affected with yeast infection.
